One of a Kind, Like Me/Único Como Yo

The bilingual story of a boy who wants to wear a purple dress to a school parade. His family is supportive and his mother helps him create the princess dress of his dreams. Two other children, one dressed as a pineapple, the other as a butterfly, tell him they’ve never seen a princess dress before, but he tells them he’s never seen a walking pineapple or a talking butterfly before, either. Wordy for a picture book, but a positive story and notable for having no teasing and only minimal questioning of the gender creativity.
