She, He, They (A Pronoun Song)

“She, He, They (A Pronoun Song),” by the award-winning Carrie Ferguson, is a bouncy, bluesy tune that will have you tapping your feet along with the affirming lyrics:

She, he, they, what pronouns do you use?
It’s up to you, the words that you choose
No one else can decide, how you feel inside
She, he, they, what pronouns do you use?

Nonbinary and queer singer-songwriter Ferguson goes on to sing about people they know who use different pronouns (or no pronouns), and all the things they like to do, from playing the kazoo to painting the kitchen and watching movies in bed. And if you don’t know someone’s pronouns? “Just ask,” they say.

Ferguson is one of the artists featured on “Rainbow Superpowers,” a kids’ song for Pride (or any time). Their 2021 kids’ music album, The Grumpytime Club, is also a great listen, with one song, “The Hope Parade,” that feels like a reference to Pride. Here’s the video for “She, He, They” (with guest appearances from Julie B, Miles Crabtree, and Melissa Smith of Ants on a Log, among other folks):
