One of the earliest guidebooks for lesbian and gay parents, this book by therapist and lesbian mom April Martin covers the questions individuals and couples should ask themselves before deciding to become parents; the various options for family creation; legal issues; raising children and answering questions they might ask, like “I wish I had a Daddy/Mommy”; navigating careers, money, and social lives as parents; parental breakups; dealing with crisis and tragedy; and interacting with families of origin and the larger world. While some of it is outdated now, particularly on the legal front, much of the general advice remains useful.
