Three Days on a River in a Red Canoe

A girl, her young cousin, her mom, and her Aunt Rosie buy a canoe, prepare for a trip, and have gentle adventures on the river. Young readers will also learn some camping skills like knot tying and making campfire recipes. This 1981 book may not appear to be LGBTQ-inclusive, but the story reads like a two-mom tale (despite Rosie being called “aunt”) and has generally been interpreted to be an early attempt at depicting such families. It may be of historical interest.
