Part of the Feelings & Firsts series of board books that gently explore social-emotional topics, this title features a young child who doesn’t want to stop playing when it’s time for dance class. She keeps trying to stall or find excuses, but her two dads offer gentle encouragement and a touch of playfulness to help her move on to her next activity.
The fact that the child has two dads is incidental to the story; the cheery images and simple text should be welcomed by families of many types whose young children also struggle with transitions (which in my experience is most of them). Highly recommended.
The family is Black, and includes an infant sibling in addition to the protagonist.
Also available in a Spanish/English edition.
