A new program from the American Military Partner Association (AMPA) aims to serve U.S. military families with LGBTQ children. The news comes just weeks after the Department of Defense launched an online professional development course for staff at military-affiliated childcare centers and youth programs on how to create safe, inclusive spaces for gender-expansive and LGBTQ children.

A Ban on Trans Service Members Harms Them, Their Children, and Our Country

Like most of the LGBTQ community and our friends today, I’m furious at President Trump’s policy-via-tweet ban on transgender people serving in the military. I’m also worried about the children of currently serving trans people, who may soon see their family incomes plummet or disappear if their parent(s) are kicked out of the service.

Colonel Kristin Goodwin has been nominated to be the new commandant of cadets at the Air Force Academy. She has a sterling record as a bomber pilot and wing commander and, most recently, as senior military assistant to the Secretary of the Air Force. She also has a wife and two kids.

Not only is today Veterans Day, but this month is Military Family Month. I’m celebrating my favorite veteran, my spouse (who shared her story last Veterans Day), but also thinking about the currently serving military families among my extended family and friends.
