Pennsylvania’s Physician General, Dr. Rachel Levine, will keynote Philadelphia Family Pride’s 6th Annual Family Matters Conference for LGBTQ parented-families on October 17th. There are lots of other fun and informative family events planned for the day, too!
Here’s a roundup of some of the things happening in the world of LGBTQ parenting while I was busy with my own family this past week.

Not one, but two states have gained marriage equality this week, as Pennsylvania today joined Oregon. And lest anyone feel that U.S. District Court Judge Michael McShane’s ruling in the Oregon case was influenced by the fact that he is a gay dad, consider that straight U.S. District Court Judge John E. Jones III, who ruled in Pennsylvania, was appointed by President George W. Bush and backed by anti-LGBT Senator Rick Santorum (R).
Last week saw more moves towards marriage equality, and once again, lesbian moms were in the forefront.

Another big week: President Obama “is under pressure to engage on a variety of gay issues that are coming to the fore” reports the New York Times.
