Outspoken Children of LGBT Parents Speak Out

Yes, it’s Monday, but watch this inspiring video featuring adults with LGBT parents, and it just might get you through the day. (Then you can watch fictitious children with two moms on The Fosters tonight, and be cheered yet again.)

Older Children of Same-Sex Parents, Real and Imagined

One of the best things about The Fosters, ABC Family’s new “two-mama drama,” is that the kids are all older children, and we see much of the action from their perspectives—balancing the many storylines from other shows about same-sex parents and their tiny tots. A few articles from real adult children with LGBT parents caught my eye this week—as did an interview with David Lambert, who plays the oldest child on The Fosters.

Another Son of Lesbian Moms Speaks Out for Equality

Eighteen-year-old high school senior Riley Roberts spoke to the Nevada Assembly last week in favor of repealing the state’s ban on marriage for same-sex couples. Why does he care? He has lesbian moms. Watch his emotional testimony after the jump.

College Students with LGBTQ Parents Wanted

I’m posting a call to participate in a study about college students who have LGBTQ parents but are not LGBTQ themselves. I’m not involved in it myself, and don’t know the researcher, but heard of this through reputable channels. Please pass along as you see fit!

Son of Two Moms in Maine Talks About Their Commitment to Him, Each Other

College student Brian Arsenault has two moms. He also lives in Maine, where voters will be voting next Tuesday on whether to allow same-sex couples like his parents to marry. In the video after the jump, Arsenault talks about the support his moms have given him over the years, and the example they have set for what a marital relationship should be.

Senator and Son of Gay Dad Endorses Marriage Equality in Washington

Washington State Sen. Kevin Ranker (D-Orcas Island), not only endorsed Governor Chris Gregoire’s recent announcement that she would sponsor a marriage equality bill, but spoke from a very personal standpoint.
