Fosters Friday

Some good news for fans of ABC Family’s The Fosters this week: Real-life lesbian foster mom and entertainer Rosie O’Donnell will be appearing in an upcoming story arc. Filming has already begun for the new season, which starts in January. See more after the jump, including star Sherri Saum’s tantalizing tweet.

I’m Going to the Fosters’ Wedding Tonight — Are You?

Stef and Lena are getting married tonight, and I’m excited. The lesbian moms of ABC Family’s The Fosters are ending their summer with a big shindig that promises to bring together all of the season’s relationship angst, teen drama, and emotional reflections on what makes a family. But will the California wedding, on a show that

What “The Fosters” Means for Real LGBT Families: Tweet About It

I had high expectations for The Fosters when it debuted on ABC Family in June, the first mainstream drama to focus on same-sex parents and their kids. I’m happy to say it more than met those expectations, while also throwing in a few pleasant surprises. The show has meant a lot to me as a lesbian mom — and to many others as well. A few articles from real adult children with LGBT parents caught my eye this week—as did an interview with David Lambert, who plays the oldest child on The Fosters.

“The Fosters”: An LGBT “Brady Bunch”?

In 2008, I wrote: “We need to see LGBT parents not only creating families, but also raising children with all the ups and downs of families everywhere. When we see an LGBT version of The Brady Bunch, we’ll know we have made progress.” Is The Fosters, ABC Family’s new drama about a multiracial lesbian couple and their biological, adopted, and foster kids, that show?

Second Trailer for Jennifer Lopez’ Lesbian Mom TV Series

I am writing, slowly and painfully, about the tragedy here in Boston this week. I want to give that proper thought, however, so in the meantime, please enjoy this second trailer for the upcoming Jennifer Lopez-produced series on ABC Family about a lesbian couple and their adopted, biological, and foster kids.
