Stories of Trans Lives

If there is one small positive in the attack on transgender people by the Trump administration, it is that more stories of trans kids are appearing in mainstream as well as LGBTQ media outlets. We owe it to those children to read their stories and ensure that our society is welcoming to them—but we also need to remember and support other trans lives.

LGBTQ Parenting Roundup

Lots of good stuff in this roundup, including a must-read piece on faith and family, nastiness (and support) in Alabama, and greater LGBTQ representation in kids’ television.

Warmth for the Winter

February, despite being the shortest month, is often a hard one. Where I live, any day might be a snow day, with my son home from school and the sidewalks needing to be shoveled. Watch: “Gender Revolution” Extended Trailer

This Monday is the television premiere of Gender Revolution: A Journey with Katie Couric, and I highly recommend it to everyone. The documentary blends both personal stories and scientific knowledge to present a textured and understanding look at gender and what it means to be intersex or transgender. Here’s a sneak peek.

Dawn Ennis

A Trans Mom Shares Her Story

I had the pleasure of meeting journalist Dawn Ennis at the Creating Change conference last week, and was delighted to see her video this week in which she discusses what it is like for her “to be both trans and a widow. To be a mom whom my kids call ‘Dad.'”
