Thomas Beatie, the transgender man who gave birth to a daughter this summer, will speak with Barbara Walters this week in his first interview since becoming a parent.

For the mainstream media, that’s a surprisingly sympathetic and tuned-in description of the whole situation. At least they actually recognize that he’s a man.
