This just in: A federal district court judge has ruled that it is unconstitutional for Utah to prevent same-sex couples from marrying.
It seems that at least one marriage license has already been issued, to blogger J. Seth Anderson, as he tweeted this afternoon.
Chris Geidner of BuzzFeed reports that the ruling could be appealed by the state of Utah to the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals. For the moment, though, Utah is the 18th state (plus the District of Columbia) to let same-sex couples wed, following New Mexico, which enacted it yesterday!
Congratulations to everyone who worked to make this happen!
