Two new sites for and about gay dads have launched recently. Whether you identify as a dad or not, check them out!
The Handsome Father “aims to build a community of support for gay fathers no matter their path to fatherhood,” and to help prospective dads find their path in the first place. Founded by partners and dads Andy Miller and Brian Stephens, it includes stories from gay dads, resource listings, and a program to match dads with mentors who’ve been there before. I love their cute logo of a penguin dad and his chick, inspired by the children’s book about two male penguins who raise a chick, And Tango Makes Three. Try Andy’s post on “The Path to Fatherhood” for more of the founders’ story.
Gays With Kids, “Helping Gay Dads Navigate Fatherhood,” was founded by partners and dads of three Brian Rosenberg and Ferd Van Gameren, along with their friend Jonah Arnold. This group blog has the goal of becoming “the web’s leading portal for gay dads who want to share their stories about creating and raising their families.” For a sample, try Ferd’s post, “The Super-Friendly Skies,” about a recent flight with their kids.
Welcome to the Internet! Glad to have you both around!
