Like to camp? The Upper Delaware GLBT Center and Camp Speers-Eljabar YMCA are hosting an LGBT Family Camp Out in the Pocono Mountains this October 3-5, and it looks like a lot of fun.
Activities at the Camp Out, according to the website, include:
Boating – Ropes Courses & Zip Line – Fishing
Nature Discovery
Games & Sports – Hikes
Mountain Biking – Climbing Tower – Target Sports
Arts & Crafts
Kids Zone (a parent-free time for young campers)
and much more!!!
Families will stay in spacious 14-person cabins with bunk beds. Some have in-cabin bathrooms and showers and others are near “state-of-the-art” bathhouses. The camp owns 1,100 wooded acres in the Poconos and a private lake for boating and swimming.
Camp Speers-Eljabar YMCA proudly says it is “the original CAMP FOR ALL established in 1948 as the first ever interracial YMCA sleep-away camp.” It’s an hour and a half west of New York City, half an hour north of Route 80 in Northern New Jersey, and two hours north of Philadelphia.
Visit the camp website for registration and more details. What better way to welcome fall than in the great outdoors?
