New Series “One Baby, Please!” Takes Humorous Look at Queer Family Building

Need a little entertainment to get you through the next week? One Baby, Please! is a delightfully funny new six-part series about a Canadian two-man couple trying to start a family. Watch a trailer here.

The series follows Egyptian Canadian Omar (Mostafa Shaker) and Barbadian Canadian Dieon (Adrian Neblett), a Vancouver couple who have been together for seven years and are ready (they think) to have a baby. First, however, they need to decide how—a process not made easier by the unsolicited advice of their immediate family.

The show was written by Karim Adam Ahmed and Adrian Neblett, and directed by Anthony Q Farrell, Polly Pierce, and Kate Green. The filmmakers explain:

Our show explores the meaning of family. The one you are born into, as well as the one you chose. As Omar and Dieon go through the motions, the universe will ultimately lead them back to each other, and their family, for the solutions to their problems.

One Baby, Please! is an ode to gay couples and their kids, who’ve never seen anything like this before on TV. It’s a heartfelt wake-up call for the rest of the world, spotlighting the microaggressions that we face as gay people of colour. It’s a satire of the rigorous, tedious process we have to go through to have what many people have… then regret having: a baby.

Kidding. Of course everyone loves their kids.

Thanks to the show for helping us find the humor in these challenges. Sometimes that’s the best way forward.

Watch it starting Monday, November 2, 2026, on OUTtv in the U.S. and Canada, and on OUTtv channels on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, YouTube TV, and Roku. Here’s a trailer to whet your appetite. (Please note that the film is aimed at adults, not kids.)
