Boston LGBTQ Families: Come Celebrate on June 1

Live in the Boston area? Visiting Boston? Want to take a road trip to Boston? Come join other LGBTQ families on Sunday, June 1, from 2 to 4 p.m. for an LGBTQ Families Celebration at the Residence Inn – Back Bay/Fenway!

You’re Invited: Blogging for LGBTQ Families Day Is June 2

Yes, it’s that time of year again, and you’re all invited to join me for the 9th Annual Blogging for LGBTQ Families Day! (We’ve added the “Q” this year for extra queerness.) In addition to the blogging event on Monday, June 2, I have a special treat this year: an in-person LGBTQ Families Celebration on Sunday, June 1, for anyone in the Boston area. Anyone who wants to show their support for LGBTQ families is welcome. Details after the jump.

BlogHer Wants Your Ideas

It’s hard to be thinking about next July already. I’m barely thinking about Thanksgiving/Thanksgivukkah, and that’s only weeks away. Still, the wonderful women of BlogHer have put out the Call for Ideas for July’s BlogHer ’14, so it’s time to fire up the neurons.

You’re Invited: Twitter Party on LGBT Family Travel — November 6

My spouse and I love to travel with our son, and we’re lucky that he’s adaptable and adventurous. While most of the problems we encounter along the way are things that could happen to any family — delayed flights, lack of convenient rest stops, forgotten teddy bears — we are also very aware that LGBT-headed families may have specific concerns when on the road. I’m therefore excited to invite you to a travel-focused Twitter party for LGBT parents on November 6, sponsored by Residence Inn by Marriott in partnership with Mombian, TravelingMom, and the Family Equality Council.

6 Intriguing Quotes from Blogging for LGBT Families Day

The most difficult part of Blogging for LGBT Families Day is reading through all the amazing posts (130 this year!) and trying to figure out how best to share them further. I’ve tried in some past years to categorize: posts on trying to start a family, on being the child of an LGBT parent, on faith and LGBT families, on being a single parent, etc. Many of the posts cross these boundaries, though. I also think there’s value in sometimes stumbling on a great post not in a category one would normally read. My solution this year is therefore a little different.

Thank You: Blogging for LGBT Families Day 2013

Wow. Thanks to all of you who contributed one of the more than 100 great posts to Blogging for LGBT Families Day, and who helped spread the word via your blogs, Facebook, and Twitter. I hope you’ll take time today (okay, let’s be realistic; over the next few days) and read through the posts.

Blogging for LGBT Families Day: Master Post of Contributions — Add Yours!

It’s Blogging for LGBT Families Day! After the jump is the master list of contributed posts, which I have kept updated throughout the day (and into the night). [Last update: 08:00 a.m. ET, 6/4: I’m still accepting posts to accommodate time zones, family emergencies, and simple forgetfulness. Make sure to check the list for new additions you haven’t read!]

Tomorrow Is Blogging for LGBT Families Day

It’s almost here: Blogging for LGBT Families Day is tomorrow, June 3. Find out how to include your blog post in the master list for all to see—and learn about a special related Twitter event—after the jump.

Join Us for a Twitter Townhall on Blogging for LGBT Families Day

I’m delighted to announce a special bonus event in celebration of Blogging for LGBT Families Day this Monday, June 3. In addition to submitting a blog post to the master list that I will showcase Monday, please join the Family Equality Council and me for a Twitter townhall at 3 p.m. EST (12 p.m. PST)! Family Equality’s policy team will answer questions about recent marriage equality happenings and what the future could hold for our families if the Supreme Court strikes down DOMA.
