Meet My Family! Animal Babies and Their Families

In each spread of this early STEM book, a young animal introduces us to their family in a few short sentences. The families include ones with two moms (the laysan albatross) and two dads (chinstrap penguins). Although the animals are ostensibly speaking to us, the details they tell us about their families are drawn from real animal behavior, not fictionalized.

The last spread shows human families of different types, including one with two moms, and tells us, “Every family’s different—each family is just right.” A nice message of inclusion as well as some interesting tidbits about the natural world.

Back matter includes a glossary, a world map showing where the animals live, and suggestions for further reading (including And Tango Makes Three).
