My family and I had a truly delightful time at the White House Easter Egg Roll this past Monday. I never thought I’d see anyone do event organizing and crowd management like Disney World, but the White House staff gives them a run for their money.
Georgia yesterday became the latest state to have an active marriage equality lawsuit — and as in so many states, parents and prospective parents are among the plaintiffs.
A new academic review has surveyed the legal landscape for lesbian and gay parents in child custody cases, both with same-sex former partners and different-sex ones. It found that courts have not always taken into consideration the social science research that has found children raised by gay or lesbian parents are as well-adjusted as their peers
Last Saturday, during our family trip to Washington, D.C., we visited the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial and the Holocaust Museum. Going to the two of them one after the other (a decision originally dictated by geography) made me keenly aware of how injustice and oppression have played out in various ways throughout human history, and how people both famous and unnamed have stepped up to fight it.
I’m very excited. My family and I got tickets to the White House Easter Egg Roll this year, so we’re heading down to D.C. this weekend for the chance to tumble ovoids around the president’s lawn.
