Our kids were 10 and almost 7 when we went to Disney World in December. Instead of a gift card, I would suggest pin trading. Before we went, we made lanyards out of ribbon and bought 12 pins for each child off e-bay for about $1.25 each. If you have official Disney pins, they can be traded with any cast member (worker), and the hotel giftshops had pin boards with pins to be traded. The kids loved it!
We did the quick service dining plan, and that worked well for us. I looked at all of the menus ahead of time so that we wouldn’t be eating burgers and nuggets. I had a list of possible choices (and what I would eat at each place!), so we could eat whenever and where ever we were.
Great ideas, N! I especially like the idea of getting the pins cheap on E-bay. If you buy them at Disney (as you know, but other readers may not), they run about $7-15 each. Buying them cheap and then trading at the park sounds like a lot of fun (as does making your own lanyard for them).
